Saint-Emilion
Day one of wine tasting in Bordeaux! Before our wine tasting excursion in Saint-Emilion, we were able to visit the actual village. It's a medieval village that is actually a UNESCO Wold Heritage Site. Since we were there during World Heritage Days, we were able to visit the churches for free, including the monolithic underground church (second largest in Europe), which was built in the 12th century. Loved this little village! After visiting the village, we arrived at our first chateau...Chateau de Pressac. It's a very old chateau, dating back to medieval times and we were also told that this was where the treaty was signed ending the Hundred Years War after the Battle of Castillon. The second chateau was Chateau Soutard, a much more modern chateau as you can tell by the photos.
